Forge and Arena update

Can’t promise a Golden Warthog, but there will be Golden Mongeese!

Headrush, my Headlong “remix” is coming along nicely. About 50% done.

I felt I needed to make the open area a bit bigger – the scale seems different in Reach. It gives vehicles more room to manoeuvre. I’ve made sure I’ve kept the different ground levels in there, so there’s only one way back to the attacking base with the ‘Hog. Testing out “The Jump” with Warthogs and Mongeese was great fun. In the end I decided not to put one of those vehicle sized Man-cannons under the ramp, it got ridiculous. As it is, it’s a sweet jump, nice and legit.

The thing I’ve come to realise about Headlong is that it had so many options for attacking the tower. You could go in the front door. Round the back at ground level. Round the back one level up. Up on the high walkway to the side. Up on the high walkway to the back. Talking of those walkways, I’ve put some Man-cannons going from the outer buildings to the bridges, otherwise with the expanded scale, the bridges would’ve been stupidly long, no-cover DMR death-traps.

In other, Halo-related news, I’ve been ranked! I’m in the Iron/Steel division in the Arena (The game says Iron, bungie.net says Steel. Who’s right?).

To be honest, I’m not surprised or disappointed to be in the bottom 20% of Halo players – Hey, it’s not even like that’s the bottom 20%. The bottom 20% of Halo players would be casuals who float from new game to new game.

I’m in the bottom 20% of serious Halo players who play at least three Team Arena games a day over the course of 7 or more days to be ranked.

There’s a difference.
