Disney’s Bolt

I'm both proud and ashamed by this game, it's a real juxtaposition. I'm ashamed that I'm playing an utterly shit "game", which isn't even a breeze to get the 1000 G's in. I think I've missed some collectibles, and I have no inclination or intention to go back and get them. The levels are over-long and quite boring, and the…

Utopia

Hey, this was really good! Did anyone else watch it? I'm going to be spoiler-free today, just so that if you do decide to watch it, nothing you read here spoils it. I'm not usually bothered about spoilers, but that does tend to be just in videogames. I guess that's how highly I regard the story-telling abilities of games, eh?…
Surface tension

Surface tension

Brilliant pun!!! Anyway, before Christmas I was contemplating getting a Surface. You know, that Microsoft tablet. My interest has slowly waned for it though. There are two reasons for this, that combine into one massive reason for not wanting one. The first reason is price, the second reason is schizophrenia. I shall explain. To address the first point, it is…
You are not a nerd, you are a tourist

You are not a nerd, you are a tourist

A real nerd t-shirt

What is it with all these Nerd, Geek, Dweeb and Dork t-shirts about at the moment? And why do I feel like 90% of the people wearing them are not nerds, geeks, dweebs, losers or dorks? The majority of them are teenage girls, and look quite up to date with their fashion. They do not look like the kind of people who could follow the plot of Game of Thrones, get a Killing Frenzy in Halo or explain why Klingons didn’t have knobbly foreheads in the original series of Star Trek. If they were really nerds, wouldn’t they wear t-shirts that look like random, normal t-shirts but are actually subtle references to nerdy TV shows or videogames or bands or comics that only fellow fans of nerdy TV shows or videogames or bands or comics would understand? For example, I have a t-shirt that is yellow and green, and has a Japanese symbol across the front of it. If you didn’t know about Jet Set Radio Future, you’d think it was simply a yellow and green t-shirt.

Tourists, the lot of them.

Anyway, that pre-ramble is to set the scene for what deeply disappointed me yesterday afternoon. There was a kid who was in shopping with his Mum, Dad and sister, he was about 12 I’d say, and he was wearing one of these slogan t-shirts. I saw him from the side at first, I noticed it ended in “t”. I had a little think about what it could be, tried to work it out in my head, but I would never have got it in a million years. After about five seconds of me thinking, the kid turned, and I saw the word which was emblazoned across his chest in 500pt bold type.

Galaga Legions DX

Galaga Legions DX

The original Galaga is a classic. Sure, it is a spin on Space Invaders, but man, what a spin. Enemy fighters peel off from the traditional main block of "Invaders" in columns, coming at you in gorgeously curved kamikaze paths, something a Space Invaders player would never expect. Namco Bandai took the basic formula and created Galaga Legions back in…
Raccoon City revisited

Raccoon City revisited

When I bought Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, I left the receipt for it in the box. It seems I bought it a few days after it came out in March of last year. I just finished it earlier today. Bear in mind, I was not continuously playing it over this time frame - I had left it for well…
Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron

Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron

In a nutshell: This was not as good as the original game, War For Cybertron. The weapons just didn't feel as weighty, and the story was quite boring to be honest. While there were a few nice touches in the single player campaign, overall it was quite dull. Multiplayer was awful compared to the original. War For Cybertron had some…

Xbox One-EIGHTY lol

So, Microsoft have almost completely reversed their position on used games and mandatory internet connectivity. I am still sold on it, but that's not the point. Lots of other people are now sold on it as well, which bodes well. Judging by the internet in general, 99% of people were not up for the DRM on Xbox One, and you…
