mp-three-asy!

That atrocious title was a pun as I'm updating my mp3 player now - and it's so fucking slow. Probably doesn't help that I'm going from an external hard-drive, through the PC, to an SD card inside my mp3 player, but hey whatever. What I really need is one of those mp3 players with stupidly massive storage, something like the…

A real nerd t-shirt

What is it with all these Nerd, Geek, Dweeb and Dork t-shirts about at the moment? And why do I feel like 90% of the people wearing them are not nerds, geeks, dweebs, losers or dorks? The majority of them are teenage girls, and look quite up to date with their fashion. They do not look like the kind of people who could follow the plot of Game of Thrones, get a Killing Frenzy in Halo or explain why Klingons didn’t have knobbly foreheads in the original series of Star Trek. If they were really nerds, wouldn’t they wear t-shirts that look like random, normal t-shirts but are actually subtle references to nerdy TV shows or videogames or bands or comics that only fellow fans of nerdy TV shows or videogames or bands or comics would understand? For example, I have a t-shirt that is yellow and green, and has a Japanese symbol across the front of it. If you didn’t know about Jet Set Radio Future, you’d think it was simply a yellow and green t-shirt.

Tourists, the lot of them.

Anyway, that pre-ramble is to set the scene for what deeply disappointed me yesterday afternoon. There was a kid who was in shopping with his Mum, Dad and sister, he was about 12 I’d say, and he was wearing one of these slogan t-shirts. I saw him from the side at first, I noticed it ended in “t”. I had a little think about what it could be, tried to work it out in my head, but I would never have got it in a million years. After about five seconds of me thinking, the kid turned, and I saw the word which was emblazoned across his chest in 500pt bold type.

Creative targets

As I am a loyal subscriber to ImagineFX, issue number 93 popped through my letter box the other day. One of the first articles was about setting yourself goals. How they can motivate you, boost your confidence, and also keep you within the realms of reality: There is a difference between goals and fantasies. I am going to set some…

2012

2012 eh? The Mayans thought the World would end - fucking idiots. Not the Mayans, but the people who misinterpreted their calendar. It was a mixed bag - some good, some bad, but mostly good. I started with the misconception that I could code - what a lol. It was a mixture of getting a new, powerful PC and a…

Nearly Christmas already

It's come around quickly again this year. Like last year, I have been working night shifts on Music and Video to prepare and repair the department. It was four night shifts spread over two weeks this time, rather than three night shifts in a row, and it took it's toll on my sleeping patterns. Still, think of the money. I…

Been playing…

The Darkness. The lovely melatonin bought me this several years ago as a Secret Santa gift. I played it for a couple of hours, got bored, and stopped. Many years later I played Syndicate, a game by the same team that made The Darkness. Having loved Syndicate, I decided to revisit The Darkness to see if I was a little…

What your soul sings

I've been totally addicted to this track recently. I need to be more true to me. I need to say what's on my mind, not what I think other people want to hear. I need to be more confident, take control. And this song inspires me, makes me believe I can do these things.

Football!

I don't usually talk about football (I think the last time I did, it was about football shirts), but the new season is almost upon us and it looks to be an interesting one. I follow a few teams, for a variety of reasons. Rangers (because of the family ties), Southampton (because I used to live there but now live…
