November is going to be awesome. Halo 4 and getting married? Sweet.
Of the ten maps available at launch, 8 are known. One of which is familiar, the rest are new.
Ragnarok – The new name for Valhalla. I’m very happy about this.
Adrift – This was one of the first maps announced, it features a mech being built in the middle of it. Yes, you can drive the mech. Probably not on this map though.
Abandon – 8 player, asymmetric, CQC, objective focused.
Haven (previously Wraparound) – Was featured on several early videos.
Longbow – Icy, large and vehicle friendly. Lots of BTBs.
Exile – Medium sized, objective focused.
Solace – Medium sized, like Narrows but with more natural terrain.
Complex – Looks a bit like that DLC one 343i made.
How do you feel about the new armour abilities?
Promethean Vision looks like it’ll be quite useful.
Autosentry is basically an automated turret.
Regeneration Field, is it a bit like the Regenerator from Halo 3?
Hologram is back, looks to be pretty much unchanged.
The Hardlight Shield looks to replace the incredibly broken Armour Lock – it looks to be a lot fairer. While you can still move, you can’t fire weapons, and your sides and back are totally exposed and it will be destroyed when it takes enough damage. I’ve been asking for something similar ever since Halo 2 – Why can’t a Spartan use the Jackal shield?
Thruster Pack is the new Evade?
And of course, you get Sprint as standard.
These three videos are awesome, detailing all the weapons that will be available in Halo 4, and giving us a little taste of the Halo 4 Remixed OST.
I’m a bit sad that the Grenade Launcher is gone, but all in all, I’m pretty happy with their choices, and some of the new Promethean weapons look pretty fun.
Oh yeah, and then there’s the new Infection mode, now called “Flood”, because when you are infected, you actually turn into a Flood form.
And you pick up the flag automatically in Capture the Flag, and get an infinite ammo Magnum you can fire whilst running the flag home.
And you can throw the Oddball/Grifball, just like a grenade.
