L2CiCS: Reflective Diary – 17th January 2018

This week was a bit more abstract and self-exploratory than usual, in that we carried on exploring our understanding of the relationship between our personalities and our helping work by asking ourselves various introspective questions (Unit 5.1), and we also considered the ways in which our life history has impacted on our behaviour and life choices (Unit 5.2). Because of…

Smudge

Smudge died today. Jane sent me a message while I was at work. She'd been off for weeks, coming up for more cuddles and being very clingy, but I never thought it was this bad, that would come to this. Jake and I had a lovely long cuddle with her yesterday. We were on the sofa and she came up…

Gizmo. We let him down.

He died one year ago today. He was an awesome cat.

In the end, we let him down. We never realised how bad his breathing had got. We took him to the vets on a Monday, he had a blood test and had antibiotics on the Wednesday. When they had little to no effect and he got worse, we were scheduled to take him to the vets, we were the last appointment of the day, so he could be kept in overnight if need be.

A new approach to updates

Friday update 5/9/14

September. September already. So, Monday was a bit scary. We took Gizmo to the vets in the morning (he's breathing very heavily at the moment), found out he could either have something in his lungs or he simply has a chest infection. Jane didn't sleep very well the night before (she had a weird kind of bad headache which defies…
R.I.P. Tigger

R.I.P. Tigger

It was a sad day today. Tigger was taken to the vets and put down. He'd been having thyroid problems for a while and he lost loads of weight. It was for the best really, save him from suffering any longer. In honour of Tigger and his legacy, I'm going to repost an old article from a couple of years…

Smudge was acting strangely

When we woke up yesterday morning, we were greeted by a cat curled up at the bottom of the bed. Usually when one of us goes to step over Smudge, she bolts, but this time she didn't. Jane got down and had a closer look, Smudge was clearly out of sorts. At first she was holding her leg funny, not…
