Rangers are champions!

Well, I knew it would happen eventually. I last wrote about football here: https://iaindstewart.net/blog/2012/08/17/football/, and in that post I explained how Rangers got demoted from the top league in Scottish football to the lowest league because of financial irregularities, but that I was confident they would make it back to the top flight soon enough.

Sure enough, they made it back to the top, winning the fourth tier league Championship, third tier league Championship, second tier league Championship en-route, but not in consecutive years. Just like I predicted though. And they’ve just won the top tier league.

It illustrates the cooperative synergy between the supporters and a football club, doesn’t it? Lower league teams fizzle into nothingness quite often, and their supporters move on to other teams. Once you reach a critical mass of fans then you can re-emerge after a disaster like this thanks to their support. How to get those supporters in the first place though? Be a good or particularly entertaining team? Be local to a highly populace area? Cheap tickets? Who knows.

Anyway, Rangers are champions. And well deserved ones at that.
