I understand why parents post so much about their kids – because to them, their kids are awesome. I ignored their posts mainly because they were not my kids, and I had no vested interest in them. It would appear that now I have a child of my own, one that I have a vested interest in, I want to post multiple pictures and funny baby-related things on social media – hoping desperately that people read them and go “Awww”, but knowing full well that they will most probably just ignore it. So… I’ve resisted posting much on there apart from the initial few announcement posts. Jake seems to be a happy, contented baby for the most part, he is chilled out like his Dad!
Our first week with Jake has been vey different to anything I had imagined it would be. He sleeps a lot, but someone’s gotta keep an eye on him, so I can’t really go off and do whatever I want. I think I may have had an unrealistic plan in my head of what I could achieve in these three weeks off. It has not been helped by a WordPress theme that just doesn’t want to co-operate since being updated. Whenever I try to do anything there is always something in the way. Always something. So yeah. Don’t get me wrong, it’s amazing, it really is. It’s all worth it to see his little smile (or is he straining to get a poo out? I don’t know). We’re all still learning, still trying to settle into a routine that works for everyone, we’ll get there eventually.
Other things I did this week include playing Pretentious Game 2 for the RGF, listening to Magicmusic06’s Super Sonic Racing Remix for the VGMRotW, playing a bunch of levels in Sonic CD (some recorded properly, some didn’t), and conquering the Forest protectors in Dark Souls.
The community site and my gaming YouTube channel may dwindle off a little bit from here on out – as I mentioned above, being a parent means I don’t have as much free time as I used to. I picked up Destiny a few days before the little one arrived and I’ve barely played it. Everyone else is having a whale of a time and are stupidly high levels, playing awesome hard missions and getting awesome high-level gear, while I’m still in Old Russia (the game’s starting area). There are a couple of episodes of Sonic CD left to be published, a few more VGMRotW, and I think one more RGF scheduled before the content dries up. I didn’t really put enough in the tank, did I? There is one episode’s worth of Dark Souls recorded but not edited yet – it’s The Duke’s Archives and the Crystal Caves – over three hours worth of play – which needs to be shrunk down to about 45 minutes. I could do them as two separate episodes I guess, but it’s just finding the time to do so.
