It’s that time of the week again, time for another random game, and this week, it is Key & Shield, a nice little platformer with tonnes of personality, in which you wield a key (to unlock the cells of your friends), and a shield (which you can use in multiple ways, such as floating after a jump, attacking an enemy above you, or simply blocking enemy projectiles).
Like any good game that is based upon the navigation of ledges via jumping, it presents scenarios which force you to use the skills available to you, sometimes in clear-cut ways, and in creative ways at other times. If only the controls weren’t so sensitive, or the enemies so annoying, it would be an even better game. Still, it does have a lot of character, and that is a good thing.
I think I lost patience on the seventh level, when a tricky jump was preceded by a long, awkward run.
