A Ghostly Journey

Hello!

This week’s RGF is A Ghostly Journey, which is essentially: a journey that you make as a ghost. Quite a bland title, but that does sum up the game pretty well. Bland. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a solid game, with well thought-out player abilities, and level design that allows you to use those abilities to their full potential – but it is just a tad bland. I can’t quite put my finger on what, as the sound is adequate, the visuals are cute and clear, and it has a nice feel to it… There’s just nothing that jumps out as excellent.

So anyway, you play as a ghost, and being a ghost you have certain abilities and weaknesses (such as immunity to spikes, a strong dislike of lights and a knack for possessing people). While you are possessing someone, you can do things like jump higher, get through small gaps and turn off lights, all of which help you get to the goal, and win. The ethereal levels bathed in blue are the highlight – pure old school pattern-learning, jump-timing, platforming goodness. But other than that, I found it a bit of a chore.

I think you should play it, make up your own mind. Here’s the link again: http://notdoppler.com/aghostlyjourney.php
