I think I’ll try having one definite update of all that is happening in my life once a week for a little bit, see how it goes. Sure, there may be more posts some weeks, but if I know I have to do at least one per week, without fail, then I may feel a little freer with the rest of my time. As it is, sometimes I come on the computer and think “I’ve not written anything in a while”, and kind of dawdle around trying to think of things. This way, every Thursday night, I can come on, write out what’s been happening, and that’s that. If any other ideas spring to mind, then it’s all good. If not, then I don’t need to worry as there’s always Friday Update to write once a week. You get me?
So, what’s new?
On RF, Random Game Friday is going well – it’s Cake Monsters this week. I also talk about Plants Vs Zombies 2 again, and how it is a little bit of a grind (understatement).
I discussed my thought process behind the look of the RF community website on my creative blog earlier in the week, feel free to check it out. In other artistic endeavours, I am currently working on a Mr Mistoffelees canvas for Jasmine, and a Monster Hunter Zinogre piece for Lewis – both coming along nicely. Also, to prevent stagnation, I’m working out some tattoo ideas. From minimalistic dandelion seeds floating in the wind to Joe Madureira style comic girls, it’s a mixed bag.
I watched The Hunger Games earlier – I feel it would have been much better if the age rating were a little higher. 24 kids rounded up and forced to fight each other to the death is a pretty mature topic, I felt it would have benefitted from a little more introspection. And of course a little more bloodshed. While it did touch upon the old “decadent ruling classes and slavery” chestnut, as well as having a little poke at celebrity culture and reality television, watching the film has made me want to read the book, if only to see if these avenues are explored a little more fully. Also, was it just me or did Katniss and Peeta’s relationship seem a little forced?
