So, these images are the first thing you see of an article or review on my new community-based videogame writing website. I wanted the front pages of the site to be very clear – all the images have the title of the article in them, or are a very accurate and concise description of the contents. I wanted them to be very visually appealing as well, which is why I went for text embedded in colourful images rather than a simple text link. I chose blue and red for the initial colours as they are the traditional team colours from Halo.
Hexels has provided me with all of the triangular backgrounds, and the Spartan silhouettes were created first on paper, then scanned into ArtRage and traced. Surprisingly, I’m using Microsoft Paint for the most part – which just shows you can have all the fancy tools in the world, but if you don’t have a smidge of talent or a cohesive vision, it’ll go to shit. The font used is Square Font, created by Agustín Bou of Bou Fonts, downloaded from DaFont.com.
Do you like the font? Does the colour scheme of the site work? Is it a unique look? Does it attract you? Make you want to read the articles? Feel free to leave a comment.
