So, I’m about to upgrade my OS to Windows 8 Pro. I’m never usually this eager to take up new technology, I mean, I never started using Firefox until Chrome was generally perceived as “the best”. Funny, just writing out the tag for Chrome made me realise I’ve never mentioned Chromehounds on here before – it is one of my favourite games of all time! Outrageous.
I’m a big fan of the Modern UI, and I love my Xbox 360 and my Windows Phone, I’ve even reverted to Internet Explorer as it’s not actually as bad as some of the trolls on the internet make out. I prefer to use Bing, as it’s all linked to my Microsoft (and thusly, Xbox Live) account, it’s just such a smooth experience when everything you use is created by the same company. I’m looking to get a Surface soon and use it both as a tablet PC and a graphics tablet. The facts that the screen is pressure sensitive and stylus friendly are huge plusses for artists. I recently had an Asus tablet, Android it was, but it felt more like a toy than a tool – not what I wanted. I want the power and flexibility of a PC with the portability of a tablet. Surface fills that void, for me.
I think Microsoft made a good move buying into Facebook rather than trying to create their own social network – the Facebook integration with my Windows Phone is very useful, and unobtrusive. I barely had to do anything, and before I knew it, I had 130 contacts in my People app. Google+ just does not appeal, mainly because not enough of my friends use it. As for the other company, well, I just don’t like Apple. Jane installed iTunes on our old PC and it made it so fucking slow. Despite several attempts to remove it, the poor PC never really recovered. I find iPhones to be quite dull, and so bloody common nowadays. Having used an iPad recently – it’s just a big iPod, isn’t it, really?
Bit of a random post that, I was just going to mention that I’m upgrading and leave it at that, but I just waffled. Fingers crossed the installation all goes ok!
