I’m giving this another go. I played it for an afternoon, like, four years ago. There are reasons for this:
I’d like to think I’ve become a more tolerant man in the past four years. Sometimes I don’t like the start of games that turn out to be great – I put Bioshock off for years and that was awesome – and while I know this won’t be anywhere near as good as Bioshock, I feel I should play through it to the end at least.
The guys who made The Darkness also made Syndicate, which I thought was great. More of that but slightly different would be good. And it’s hurting my completion ratio on TrueAchievements, only having four out of fifty Achievements.
So far, so good! Although, like Dave, I am wondering why no-one is mentioning the demonic possesion thing, not even the main character. It’s just like “Yeah, I have tentacles and minions and shit now. It’s all good!”. Bizarre. No crushing realisation that his life will never truly be his own again or anything.
