I has job

Yes, that’s right. After being unemployed for a very long time, I have gained employment at Asda, on the Home and Leisure department. I had no idea there was even a vacancy on the department until they mentioned it in the “Asda Magic” group selection thing I had last week. That in itself was pretty good fun – rather than have an one-on-one interview to start with, there were eight of us and we were split into pairs to get to know each other, then we had to introduce our partner to the group, much less stressful than standing up and talking about yourself for a bit. Then we watched a video about Asda and had to make a tower of balloons. Anyway, yeah, I targeted the Home and Leisure department vacancy because that’s where most of my previous experience lies, I figured it’d be the best match. I had the one-on-one interview this morning, and the man phoned earlier to let me know I had been successful. My two-day induction is on Friday and Saturday, then I start properly on my department on Tuesday.

It’s such a relief, I tell you. I will not fuck this up, I cannot. I have an image in my head which spurs me on to do my best at all times from now on. I cannot fuck up, the image in my head – the alternative – if I fail it will surely happen and I do not want that. Up next, giving up smoking, cooking tea once a week and partaking in a spot of exercise. These things I must do. The alternative is not something I even like thinking of.
