Man, some of the Achievements on this were obscure. Here are my tips for some of them.
I had trouble getting “The Works” Achievement. For this, Chris attacks an enemy with a melee attack, then Sheva follows up quickly with a melee attack, then Chris finishes the enemy off with a final melee blow. I found it best to do this in mission 6-1 (the boat) versus the Big-Man Majini – but I guess you could do it on any mission with a Big-Man Majini in it. I found this one to be the easiest as the enemy in question is located quite early on in the level and he’s alone.
Now, be sure to bring a flash grenade with you. Go through the level as normal, you’ll know he’s near when there’s a little cut-scene of some dogs jumping out of a freight container. Kill the two or three guys that rush towards you and, if you remember, he should be hiding just around the corner. Ready your grenade, strafe around the corner, throw it at his feet then run towards him. As he’s staggering around, mash X. Chris will hit him, then Sheva should hit him, then Chris will do a back-fist type thing and the Achievement will pop. You have to almost mash the X button so the combo happens very swiftly, none of the tips I initially found on the internet mentioned the button pushes have to be quite fast!
Getting the final figure (rare Wesker) means being awarded an S rank at the end of each chapter – don’t worry, it’s not that hard – you can do this on Amateur. Best to combine this endeavour with getting your completion time for the Amateur difficulty level down to under 5 hours. While the infinite ammo Rocket Launcher isn’t directly connected to any Achievement, it can help greatly in the acquisition of some of them, and I would say it’s essential for a Pro run. Be sure to get your Amateur time down to under 5 hours!
Getting all the treasures was a bit of a pain. I had most of them after one run but one of them in particular was so well hidden it was obscene – like me, you’ll probably be missing the Topaz (Oval). In mission 6-1 (the boat, again!) there are two Majini standing on top of the crane that moves to trap Sheva in the middle of the level. Sniping these two enemies before Sheva has been trapped allows you to pick the jewels up after Sheva has been trapped, a little further on in the level (roughly where the two Big-Man Majini spawn).
Killing thirty enemies with the Stun Rod, Gatling Gun and Sheva’s Bow are easily achieved on the very first stage where lots and lots of Majini come for you and Sheva suggests you run towards a nearby house. Sure, on your first run through that was a good idea, but when you have a Stun Rod, Gatling Gun or the Bow it can be quite easy as all those weapons have infinite usage. With the Rod, let them come to you – swipe it at them when they’re close enough. One hit should put them down for good. Stand your ground with the Gatling Gun and just hold the trigger, easy enough. The Bow can be tricky as it doesn’t have a targeting laser, but the fast firing speed and the impressive piercing power make up for that. It’s easy to correct a missed shot by quickly following up with another, and any advancing Majinis behind the one you’re aiming at will go down too.
I found this is also the best place to get the Lead Aspirin Achievement. Simply mow down the first wave, then push on to either the left or the right, where enemies are climbing over fences to get at you. Time a Shotgun blast to their face as they are dropping down to floor level – aim high and the spray of pellets should net you some Gamerscore.
I still have to finish off Professional difficulty, but it shouldn’t be too bad now I’ve got the Rocket Launcher’s infinite ammo and enough money to buy as many First Aid Sprays as I need. Overall, good gaem!!!!
Professional is a breeze with the Rocket Launcher infinite ammo and First Aid Sprays. The only problems will be a few times you’ll get caught by an arrow, and when they get guns you just require a little more caution as they can kill you pretty much instantly. Wesker (the one with Jill) is also a MAHOSIVE pain in the arse. Spam Rockets at his feet if you can 🙂
Excellent, thanks for the tips. One hit kills doesn’t sound too nice – thankfully the checkpoints are frequent in this game. God, imagine if they still used the typewriter/ink ribbon save system! Nightmare!
