Current character level: 19
Current class and level: Ranger 4
Quite a jump in level there, eh? I played with tokkybot ver.2 for a bit last night and this afternoon, taking in a multitude of environments from the grassy plains of Parum to the harsh deserts of Moatoob. De Ragan fell, Zolagoug fell, Onmagoug fell, even the mighty Dimmagolous fell, all without too much trouble. I bested them all twice, just in case I got an easy spawn on the first run – hence the massive increase in levels, but I won’t have much time to continue Project tokkybot over the rest of the weekend.
“Where did all the Zoona go?”, I thought to myself as I ploughed through Valley of Carnage C, Mine Defence C, System Defence C and Desert Terror C. Those missions used to be full of them! Come to think of it, those missions used to be a challenge compared to the low level Parum and Neudaiz runs. All of Moatoob was toned down early on in Phantasy Star Universe’s lifespan. Where there was once multiple Bil De Vears there is now a group of Naval, three Drua Gohra’s replaced by three Jishagara. I remember the days when every room in Desert Goliath contained at least three Grinne Bete C! Awesome fun, especially for weak Techers!
The watered down enemies, combined with the raised character stats introduced in Ambition of the Illuminus means that Moatoob has lost that fear factor. As well as all of its Zoona, which I’m guessing people thought were too hard because they flew about a bit. The sheilded Vandas did provide some resistance, thanks to their immunity to status effects and the half damage they take from bullets, but not much. It’s not often I wish a Bil De Vear would spawn and crack my head open. The Tengohg Army on Demons Above C also took a beating, but in terms of offense they never even raised a finger (wing?) at me.
It was not all boring boring though, I did notice a strange phenomenon with some enemies behaviour in Moonlight Beast C. There was an Ollaka with a Crown and a couple of Gohmon. The Ollaka did his “leadership flourish”, (a common sight with leader types, it calls other creatures around it, usually so it can cast a support Tech), and the Gohmons actually walked over to it, expecting some support. I’ve seen creatures of the same species do this many, many times, but never a creature responding to a leader of different species. Maybe it’s just the typical way the enemies tend to spawn in groups of the same species all the time that I’d never seen it, rather than me just being oblivious to it. Either way, it could lead to some interesting encounters if enemy species are mixed up.
I got my first Simple Mail! tokkybot was sitting in Holtes City, sitting idly while I answered nature’s call and upon my return I noticed a large grey Cast looming over me; before I got to the controller he had run off and disappeared via the orange crystal. Noticing I had a mail, I opened it, wondering if someone had actually read this blog and found me… Oh how wrong I was – it read “are u a girll”.
Thanks “syckobot”. I wonder, if I pretend to be a girl, will I get free stuff?
