First things first, I thought I should open up all my travel options so I can move freely between planets. This involves running to each different area in each of the main cities, for example on Neudaiz you need to enter the Guardians Branch and the Yohmei Shop. The most obviously difference since starting the game back in November 2006 is that Moatoob is open – Yes, Moatoob was once locked! Also, I’ll definitely need Goggles, so I went up to the Guardians HQ and started Episode II: Chapter 1 – The Mask. I was not prepared for how dangerous level 1 Gohmons could be, and there was no way I’d be able to defeat a Zoalgoug! Still, seeing as I had already secured my Goggles, I quit out to live another day; Laia Martinez’s Partner Card is in no way condusive to my aims.
With all that out of the way, it was about time I got on with the serious business of killing stuff. The Linear Line missions always used to be a good place to start. It was tricky at first, as even as a Ranger Delsabans have superior frontal evasion and Sendillans can easily surround you. After a long and arduous run through both missions, it struck me, why don’t I do the tutorial? As a Cast I’d obtain Lou’s Partner Card, and using her to distract the enemies would let me concentrate on shooting stuff and staying alive. Tutorial over, Rising Strike sold to the NPC and Lou in my party, the second run through of Linear Line was much easier.
After that, I foolishly thought that Lou and I would be able to handle Sacred Stream C, at least until other people took pity and joined my party. I thought there’d be loads of players around, wanting to take part in the Guardians Boost Road. How wrong was I? No-one joined, and still with only my default equipment and weapons, the Byasha’s quickly pummelled me back to the lobby. The plan for next time looks like a bit of shopping, then back to Linear Line for a bit. Or I may even try my luck in Raffon Meadow.
Not sure how good an idea it is for Lou and I to tackle a De Ragan though!
