Two and a half months later…

Oh my, has it really been that long since my last post? That really is very bad of me, especially considering I could’ve knocked up a few smaller update posts on my phone during a lunchbreak at work or something. I’ve been in some pretty dark places between then and now, and I never feel like writing when I’m having a bad time of it, but I feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, things are getting better.

Anyway, here’s where I am right now: Sitting in the lounge on my laptop, just having got Jake to sleep after his breakfast. He’s an amazing kid, he’s so laid back and happy, it just feels so easy and natural to look after him and watch him grow. Jane has gone back to work now, so we’ve properly split the childcare in half, and we still have one day off a week as a family, so that’s cool. We’re very lucky to be in the position to be able to do it this way, so many families nowadays have to work full-time, or rely on others to look after their children, we are very lucky. I do three days at Asda a week now, the other four days (which I foolishly assumed were for me to do as I pleased as Jake would be asleep for most of the time) are full of beautiful Daddy-Son moments.

Nothing is really going on on the creative front sadly, but I am being inspired by all these lovely comics I’ve been reading on Marvel Unlimited. It is such a good service – for the price of one trade paperback per month I get access to more comics than I could ever hope to read. So far I have read Earth X, everything regarding The Runaways, NYX, the All-New X-Men crossover The Battle of the Atom, which lead me on to read most of the All-New X-Men comics on there, Planet Hulk then World War Hulk (so damn good, those two), Uncanny X-Force, 30 or so issues of the Marvel Knights Daredevil series… And many more I can’t remember. I’ll have to see if there’s a history function on the web app to find a list of everything I’ve tried, as I would like to write up some thoughts on all the series’ I have read at some point, it’s just finding the time. Sure, there were some things that I read one issue of and then dropped for whatever reason, but that’s the beauty of the service, I can read whatever I want.

I think every category is going to get a mention in this post. The Prodigy released their new album a couple of weeks ago, and after not being 100% convinced by Nasty at first, I’ve come to love it now. It just took a fair few listens, that’s all. I wasn’t entirely convinced by the first half of the album either, they all kinda sounded similar, but again, it turned around fairly quickly after a few listens and now I know each track’s personality, it’s all good.

I bought all the Marvel Cinematic Universe films recently – you may remember a while ago I borrowed them off a friend and watched all the ones leading up to and including Avengers Assemble – now I own them all, as well as Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Iron Man 3, Guardians of the Galaxy and season one of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I’ve only watched Guardians of the Galaxy so far, but that was very good, it blew me away to be honest, it was such a good film. I probably should’ve watched them in order, but I was aching to watch GotG, so I did. I do what I want.

I actually went a little crazy and bought an Xbox One the other week, even though I have not touched my Xbox 360 in weeks. They are usually £349, but we had an offer on them at work for the console and the Halo Master Chief Collection for £249 which was too good a price to pass up. I have been buying games for it for a while now, just when they got to a good price at work, so I knew I would get one eventually. Is that bad of me?

I’ve drawn up a list of little jobs to do for randomfury.co.uk – it would be a shame to see the whole thing go down the drain, but there are so many annoying little things I need to do before I feel I can start recording videos for it or writing articles for it, let alone promoting it. I’ll get there one day, it’s just a case of getting it just how I want so that when I am ready to devote time to it, all I need to do is make the videos or write the articles rather than change the forum skin, create watermarks, and devise colour schemes.

Anyway, that’s been about an hour and Jake is stirring, so I best be off. I’ll just leave my laptop here so it can finish downloading updates, that’s the problem when you don’t turn a computer on for so long – updates! I promise not to leave it so long before my next update.

See you!
