Not at all faster and still with terrible wifi range

The title just about sums up the new modem. I won’t take a picture of the speed test as I can’t be bothered to make one – you’ll just have to take my word for it. The technician left without setting it up or telling us what any of the usernames and/or passwords were as well, which meant a half-hour chat on the phone to some random tech support guy. I took the opportunity to change the wifi name – we used to be “Space Pirates” – named after this popular kids programme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4K0rpkCMHA – but now it’s a “Secret Research Facility” – sure to get the neighbours guessing. Oh, and we’re not AOL anymore, we’re on Talk Talk apparently. I don’t fucking know. I just want Virgin Media’s 30Mb download speed. I also found out why the engineer came round in the first place – they randomly phoned out of the blue to see if we were happy with our internet (let’s be honest, apart from the low speed it is pretty much adequate) – and Jane’s Mum told them it was slow and taking about an hour to log in. What she meant was: Her computer runs on Windows Vista. It is old and slow and it takes about an hour to turn on. The internet is fine. She uses the horrible AOL software to view her emails even though we’ve tried to get her on to using a website-based AOL client through a fast, lightweight browser. Sigh.

In other news, I just bought this random dance music mix mp3 album off Amazon right, and I’m sat here thinking “The mixing on this is shite, it doesn’t even sound like it’s been mixed at all”.

Then I remembered I had shuffle turned on.
