Videogame writing

Ok, so I’m not going to copy and paste all the videogame writing I do on the main site over to here – it’s just the wrong style of writing for a personal blog. Keeping it brief on here, just outlining what I have been playing, and keeping the “reviews” for the main site.

I was talking about leaving posts on the now-defunct Random Fury! videogame blog. I did in fact transfer everything from there and my own personal blog to here, so everything is here now.

I have, however, realised that the words do need to be a little less middle-of-the-road. I’ve been doing some research, and the videogame websites that I have personally enjoyed have been a little more on the aggressive side. I quickly left the nicey-nice blogs that came across as not wanting to hurt anyone’s feelings, as they were so boring to read. While I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings with what I write, I don’t feel as if I can sugar-coat things that are clearly wrong.

For example: Spending a year of your life making a videogame is a big thing. If I played this game you made, and saw it was of questionable quality, for me to simply say “This game is shit” would be a disservice to the effort you put in regardless of it’s quality. For me to explain why I thought the game was not of the best quality would be much better. Criticism is only useful if it is constructive. I’m not going to be an asshole, I’m going to be honest. This is a natural progression of how things are progressing in real-life – I’m becoming more vocal, more aggressive, more likely to say what I really feel. I need to be more honest. I need to. Have I said all this before? I can’t be bothered to check. The related posts plug-in will tell me if I have.

I don’t want to have any regrets. I don’t want to leave things unsaid.
