In terms of what is going to happen to this blog – it’ll pretty much stay the same. Personal stuff will continue to be exclusively posted here, whereas videogame stuff will also on the main RF blog in a cross-posting fashion.
As for the forum – It’s important to me that the integration stuff happens – I have realised that phpBB is the best, most familiar choice for forum software, and I massively prefer WordPress to any of the other blogging/CMS platforms. I have found something that will glue the two together, and I want the whole thing to be as seamless as possible – users who join for the forum have access to commenting on and writing for the blog, and people who join to comment on the blog content find they can drop into Pre-Game Lobby for a chat about strippers or football.
People can write about whatever they want – I want it to be a community site after all, and one that I want to be driven by the community, by the members. Obvious topics include videogames – but I’d like to shy away from reviews of the latest AAA titles, or numerous “news” stories that are skimmed over by the vast majority. I’d prefer opinion pieces, humour, unique takes and sideways glances. Short pieces on obscure but great Indie and browser-based games.
Sound good?
