About that post I made about the football

Re: Football’s going home.

Turns out everyone hasn’t blamed it on the disallowed Lampard effort, rather they have actually realised that England played very poorly! Common sense prevails for once.

On a related football note, some teams I follow have recently announced new kits and they are lovely.

The Glasgow Rangers new one is so simple, but it’s striking and bold, with most shirts nowadays trying to out-do each other with the amount of stripes/patterns/flashes of colour. It’s lovely. So lovely in fact, I may buy it and wear it myself! I love the overall simplicity and the little details like how the Umbro logo omits the name “Umbro”, and having the club crest against the background itself rather than a badge, it’s beautiful, it really is. Also love how they’ve taken the recent trend of putting stars next to the club insignia to signify how many Championships they’ve won. In Rangers case, every star represents 10 Scottish Championship titles! Southampton also announced a new strip, which harkens back to the olden days. Like the Rangers one, it’s simple, but the colours are bold and confident. If I didn’t live in an area that is a stones throw from Southampton’s arch enemies Portsmouth, I would wear it.

Now, I mentioned earlier that I was tempted to buy the Rangers shirt, and browsing around the interwebs to find an image of it I uncovered a wonderful website which had pictures of all the other football shirts I have ever owned. They are all of an era long gone, when fashion first started to creep into the football world, and thanks to the magic of “Save Image As…” I present them to you now.

I am cringe. Well, apart from the Rangers one, that’s stood up to the test of time. The dark blue Spurs shirt is quite nice too. And I’d probably still wear the salmon pink Scotland shirt just because it’s fucking awesome. I am not so much cringe after thinking about it.
