Just watched England crash out of the World Cup – hilarious stuff (I’m Scottish). Let 2010 be forever remembered as the time England would have won the World Cup had the Officials seen that Frank Lampard’s effort had crossed the line. You know, just like they would’ve won the World Cup in 2006 had Rooney not been sent off, and the time before when David Beckham got sent off or the time before that… You get my drift, it never seems to be their own fault. Fair enough, from the time it was 2-0 to Germany to the time Lampard “scored” they finally showed they had some of that English passion, but for the previous three and a bit games they just looked half-hearted and didn’t put any pressure on their opponents.
I’ve enjoyed the World Cup so far, I think I’ll write up some thoughts on the group and last 16 stages during the week some time, or wait ’til the whole thing is over and do some summaries, I don’t know.
Yesterday also saw Matt Smith’s first series as The Doctor come to an end. A very satisfying end, if you ask me. He’s really grown into the role, dropped all the Tennant-isms and become his own entity. Karen Gillan was also very good, a different kind of companion to the rest. Credit to the writing team for delivering the best series of Doctor Who since the reboot. Other than that, it’s been quiet. It’s been too hot to get up to much! We’ve just been enjoying the sunshine mostly, I’m always so surprised at how easily Jane tans, she’s proper brown! I do hope it cools down a little bit though – weather like this is nice for holidays or long weekends, but the daily grind at this heat is just unbearable.
