The Great Gurhalian Cup: Weekends not permitted

In an unforseen twist, we have removed ourselves from the Great Gurhalian Cup Time Attack Tournament.

The alarm bells started ringing earlier in the week when Marcface’s Xbox decided to die. He has since bought a new one, but at first that looked to be the reason we’d have to leave. But then, for some reason the scheduling became incredibly limited, and the only time we could play as our original five was deemed too late. Being five people with varying work and personal schedules, it’s a rare occasion we all get to play together anyway, although saying that we could have easily fitted our run in last week… Oh wait, the first round was still going on at that point, having been extended a week for people who have varying work and personal schedules.

So, to sum up, we run our first fixture in plenty of time and endure the week delay before the second round starts, but then are not permitted to run at the only time that is available to us, although we gave plenty of notice. It’ll be interesting to see if any other teams pull out due to the very short time-scale of the second round.

Yes, we could have had a substitute, but early on we decided that we went in as a team, and that we’d finish it as a team. Same reason why we didn’t run it as a foursome. We went in as five, we’d leave as five. It’s a shame, as I do think we had a strong team (as much as the others would try to deny it) and we could have gone very far, if not all the way, but as the saying goes: one for all, and all for one. We instinctively knew what each other would do given a spawn of Kakwane, and what we’d do differently with a spawn of Gobooma; Experience as a team is much more valuable than the latest 12* 50% weapons, or the highest level Photon Arts.

In that sense, we were the richest team in the tournament.
