I have a dream

I was going to do an entry yesterday talking about some Random Fury members and how much I appreciate them wanting to voluntarily play under the RF banner, but Jane came in and I got side-tracked. It’ll have to wait now, as I have something else to say.

Whilst Orca is designing a Flash based Halo 2 Random Fury site, featuring profiles and such of all the members, all the map strategies and tactics, any guides or FAQs that have been written, I’m also looking to learn website design at a local college in September, which will be free thanks to me claiming Jobseekers Allowance.

Ideas for the site include dynamic user profiles using the RSS feeds from Bungie.net, also with a view to taking advantage of any other future games that have such great web support. The main focus will be on nurturing online gaming communities, much in the same way as the RF forum, but with far greater scope. I hope it will also have a forum that is integrated into the main site, so people can comment on things, or just use it like a normal forum like the existing RF one.

It’ll be a like a mad combination of HALOader, a wiki, a forum, a general videogame news and reviews site in a similar way to how NewsNow displays its news, and the community section of 1up.com, with users able to write a blog, upload pictures of their setup, upload personal pictures, link to other cool sites, pretty much anything they want, I want to be able to provide.

The ultimate aim is to have things like Google and Yahoo searches and import your favourites list and such so you can use your main profile page as your home page! As I’m also toying with going into web design as a career move, I could use the webspace to host examples of my work with links to sites I’ve made, and also advertising Jane’s greeting card designing. She makes them and sells them, having an online store to sell them would be neat too.
