I brought over a very healthy amount of notes from the GameDev section of OneNote today – I also took the opportunity to condense some of them and split others off into their own notes. Some of the ideas were no longer relevant so they were pruned, while some felt crowded in by being part of a generic note so they were split off to have their own personal note. There’s still plenty there to be moved over, but they are definitely more manageable in Obsidian.

So as a part of the whole “making games” thing, I’ve also decided to make my own custom fonts for these games as well. Today, after “finishing” my first font, I made a reference note for it in Obsidian, because I am using the Private use area for glyphs that represent the various elements in the universe that my games inhabit. Rather than having to do some finger gymnastics and hold one button while putting in a number sequence, I can just copy and paste the relevant glyph. While the font is, I would say, finished, the icons for the elements are still mostly placeholder, and very likely to change. There are a few little things about the font that I want to change, but that’s easy enough to do – it’s amazing how much you learn about a font when you use it in a day-to-day fashion.

I’m looking forward to having all my notes in Obsidian. Then I can start learning Godot again – I’ve not stopped learning, but I have put a little halt on it until things are all together, just so I’m not stretching myself too thin. I’ve found it’s better to focus on one thing at a time.
