Hanger

Hello again! This week on Random Game Friday, the featured game is: Hanger.

It is as it sounds, a game in which you hang, from string in this case, and it does a very good Spider-Man impression. You can swing your body a little by using the left and right arrow keys, move up and down the rope by using the up and down arrows and the space bar releases and re-fires the rope. Traverse the level and win. Points are awarded at the end of each level depending on how many ropes you used and how few body parts you lost.

As far as physics-based flash games go, it is pretty fun, and clearly originated from an experiment by someone trying to get to grips with programming swinging dynamics. One lesson I learnt while playing this game was to not go too fast – you can quite easily lose control and become detached from too many body parts.

The levels are pretty generic and uninspired until you get to the one where the ceiling gets lower and lower the further into the level you go – I got up to level 8 (City Pressure) and gave up because I couldn’t work out how to use the rope to traverse ledges that weren’t above me. Here’s the link again, see if you can work out how to do level 8: http://www.notdoppler.com/hanger.php
