The games of orisinal.com are old favourites of ours here at RF. This latest one, Wings Over Water, is a very typical example of them – beautifully dreamy visuals and a relaxed soundtrack, combined with inventive and playful gameplay ideas.
What kind of game is this? It’s a vertically scrolling shmup, in which you don’t shoot, you simply avoid and collect. The title of Wings Over Water is descriptive – You play as a large blue bird, and to score points you have to come into contact with the smaller blue birds, who will then follow you. This makes things harder though, as the more birds you have following you, the bigger your hitbox becomes. If you or your tail of followers touch an orange bird or a large silver swan, then you lose energy. Run out of energy and it’s game over.
Despite it being a fairly relaxed environment, it can get quite intense if you advance far into the game. Try it for yourself here: http://www.ferryhalim.com/orisinal/g3/wings.htm – or just check out the index of all the games on orisinal: http://www.ferryhalim.com/orisinal/
Enjoy!
