Nanaca Crash

This weeks random game is an old favourite of mine – Nanaca Crash. We used to have a high-score table in The Arena on an old iteration of the forum, I cannot recall who was top and with what score.

The aim of the game is to use Nanaca (the lass on the bike) to hit Taichi as far as you can. It’s all done via one mouse button. Initially, all you do is hold and release to set your angle and power, but you do need to be aware of what is happening if you want to get a really long score. You can teleport Nanaca in at various other times to get a little boost: When Taichi is on his way down you can click to teleport Nanaca in and smash him upwards – but beware – you can only do this three times in total. I guess this is to stop you from continually coming in and smashing him upwards. When Taichi is on the screen and on his way up, you can teleport Nanaca in to hit him downwards. Unlike the upward smashes, this is regenerated over time, and is very handy if you happen to miss one of the schoolgirls…

Another reason to stay alert whist Taichi is going zoom: The schoolgirls. Collide with one and they invariably boost you along a bit. Sometimes when you hit one they have a special move ready for you – click the mouse when it tells you and receive a bigger boost. One of the schoolgirls brings you to a complete stop, but with a little attention you can teleport in and carry on further. There are a couple of schoolboys in there too, and they either slow you down or make your flight angle horribly vertical.

There are two scary things about this game. One is the simplicity. It’s a very straightforward idea, presented in a stripped down and stylish manner, with reasonably clear instructions and objectives – even the special moves are performed with one simple click of a mouse button. The other scary thing is how addictive it is. A quick go can easily turn into hours – It is that “just one more hit” feeling, distilled into a videogame.

Here’s the link again: http://megami.starcreator.com/nanaca-crash/, check it out, but be warned: it’s incredibly fun and very, very addictive.

Edit: I have located the RF! high score table and captured it for immortality.

I can confirm that Jane is the All-time RF! Nanaca Crash champion.
