There were just too many unforeseen issues. While I love the idea of having a forum and a blog working together with one unified log-in, there are just too many basic things you can’t do in Word/BB/BuddyPress, which I discovered far too late into the process. It was my own fault for assuming. And along with theming issues that the developers wouldn’t fix because they didn’t support BBPress (a familiar story, so I discovered), I just gave up. It’s not that it didn’t all fall into place immediately, but that some things were just far too different and causing too many problems far too early on.
Still, I think I have found an alternative which will preserve the familiarity of phpBB while still giving unification with a WordPress blog. I really liked the look I gave to the community blog, they were some of my best graphics ever and I am not going to lose them.
