Karl and Hannah came to visit us in the Summer. During their visit, I said to Karl that I’ve not taken an active role in promoting Random Fury for a long time, to which he replied “Maybe you should”.
This is me taking an active hand again.
The website, randomfury.co.uk, will soon be transformed. Our existing phpBB forum will be transferred over to BuddyPress, and it will also have the full functionality of a WordPress blog alongside it. This lets me add in a lot of functionality and flexibility, such as blog articles that have their related forum topic displayed below it, one unified log-in for the forum and blog, and opportunities for any member of the site to have their words published on the main site. A new events creator is also in the works, allowing people to organise online games, advertise their recording or streaming sessions, or get together to work on some Achievements. The new software framework will also make closer integration with Facebook, YouTube and twitch.tv a lot easier.
When will all this happen? Well, there’s going to be a lot of questions, a lot of support needed, a lot of people asking if I can change certain things, or make them look different – Which is why I am going to book some time off after Christmas and make sure it is done right.
We have undeniably had some great times in the last nine years, but times change, priorities shift, and ideals become fractured. Random Fury is undergoing a metamorphosis. Please don’t be alarmed. I don’t want to see this place slowly die long after the life support machine should have been switched off – I’d rather go down swinging. If this change kills off RF then so be it, but I would rather try a re-launch of sorts, a big push for new blood, one final hurrah.
Please note, none of the websites mentioned in this post are still active.
