Champix: Day one

So, as I said, I’ve started on Champix. What is Champix? It is a drug that affects the nicotine receptors in your brain, making cigarettes less enjoyable (surely a misnomer – does anyone actually enjoy the ritual of smoking? It’s a need rather than a want). It also reduces your desire for a cigarette. So far all it’s done is give me a stonking headache. Well, I tell a lie, I was going to have a cigarette whilst walking to work this morning but I decided not to – whether this was due to the Champix or due to the fact it was early morning and I’d already had two or three (another one would’ve made me gag), I’m not sure.

Anyway, I need to set a date to stop smoking, and I’ve rather randomly chosen the 9th of March. Hopefully the tablets will have kicked in by then and I won’t want to smoke.

Throughout the day, desire to smoke was normal, and relief after smoking was normal.
